Chavez grad Fenton contributes to New Mexico victory
Chavez High School graduate Jamal Fenton played for University of New Mexico in a 54-48 win over conference rival California State-Fresno on Wednesday Feb. 13 at Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., New Mexico's website reported.
The senior guard recorded two rebounds and one steal for the Lobos, who improved to 21-4 on the season and 8-2 in the Mountain West Conference.
New Mexico's next game is 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at home against Boise State University.
Fenton was rated a three-star recruit by Scout.com and Rivals.com entering his senior season of play at Cesar E. Chavez in 2008-2009 playing for head coach Kevin Pullum. He was also ranked in the top-10 in the Houston area by RCSSports.com and top-20 in Texas by TexasHoops.com. He is the son of Hyron and Gail Fenton.
