Chavez grad Fenton contributes to New Mexico win
Chavez High School graduate Jamal Fenton scored nine points in New Mexico's 72-45 home win over conference rival California State, Fresno Saturday, Jan. 12, at The Pit/Bob King Court in Albuquerque, the New Mexico website reported.
The University of New Mexico senior guard also recorded six rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Lobos, who improved to 15-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Mountain West Conference.
New Mexico's next game is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 on the road against Boise State University.
Fenton was rated a three-star recruit by Scout.com and Rivals.com entering his senior season of play at Cesar E. Chavez in 2008-2009 playing for head coach Kevin Pullum. He was also ranked in the top-10 in the Houston area by RCSSports.com and top-20 in Texas by TexasHoops.com. He is the son of Hyron and Gail Fenton.
