Pearland grad Bennett plays in San Diego loss to BYU
Julia Bennett, a graduate of Pearland High School, is a junior guard for the University of San Diego women's basketball team.
Pearland High School graduate Julia Bennett played for San Diego in a 57-54 loss at home against conference rival Brigham Young on Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Jenny Craig Pavilion in San Diego, Calif., San Diego's website reported.
The junior guard and the Toreros are 9-6 on the season and 1-2 in conference.
San Diego's next game was Saturday, Jan. 12 against Loyola Marymount.
Bennett is a 2009 graduate of Pearland High School, where she was named Defensive and Offensive Player of the year in 2008. She averaged 18 points as a senior to go along with 3.2 assists, four rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. As a senior she was named to the All-Greater Houston team and was named to the academic all-state team. She carried a 3.7 GPA into USD. Bennett is from Pearland and is the daughter of Willie and Joyce Bennett.
