Pearland athletes in action: College basketball

These men's basketball players, both with Pearland high school ties, have scheduled action this weekend:

Terry Allen, University of Richmond
Position: Forward
High school: Manvel High School
This week: Saturday, Jan. 12, at La Salle University
About Allen: Allen is a freshman forward for the University of Richmond. He is a 2012 graduate of Manvel High School, where he was named all-state and 4A Player of the Year as a senior. He was also a nominee for Mr. Basketball for the state of Texas and was 4A Player of the Year in 2012. He scored 1988 points and grabbed 1050 rebounds career rebounds. He also had 215 steals. Allen is from Houston and is the son of Benton and Stefanie Tyson.

Jamal Fenton, University of New Mexico
Position: Guard
High school: Cesar E. Chavez High School
This week: Saturday, Jan. 12, vs. California State University, Fresno
About Fenton: Fenton was rated a three-star recruit by Scout.com and Rivals.com entering his senior season of play at Cesar E. Chavez in 2008-2009 playing for head coach Kevin Pullum. He was also ranked in the top-10 in the Houston area by RCSSports.com and top-20 in Texas by TexasHoops.com. He is the son of Hyron and Gail Fenton.
