Pearland grad Bennett contributes to San Diego victory
Julia Bennett played for San Diego in a 69-63 win against conference rival Portland on Saturday, Jan. 5, the university's website reported.
The junior guard recorded one rebound, one assist and one steal for the Toreros, who improved to 9-5 on the season and 1-1 in the West Coast Conference.
San Diego's next game is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 at home against BYU.
She is a 2009 graduate of Pearland High School, where she was named defensive and offensive player of the year in 2008. As a senior, she averaged 18 points and was named to the All-Greater Houston team.
Bennett also was named to the academic all-state team, carrying a 3.7 GPA into USD.
The Pearland native is the daughter of Willie and Joyce Bennett.
