Friendswood High School students win accolades at speech tournament
Several Friendswood High School students earned honors at the Clear Brook Speech Tournament held Thursday, Jan. 3.
According to a press release from Friendswood High School, students Jim Bockmon and Nader Asgari-Tari won first place in CCX Debate. Bockmon won the third place Speaker award and Asgari-Tari won first place in Foreign Extemp. Jacob Segal won first place in Novice Prose, seventh place in Oration and eighth place in the Impromptu category. Lisa Harringon won second place in Novice Prose and Charles Yeager won seventh place in the Novice Extemp category.
Friendswood High School is at 702 Greenbriar Ave., Friendswood.
More than 1,700 students attend Friendswood High School. It is the only high school in the Friendswood Independent School District. The school's principal is Mark Griffon and associate principal is Diane Myers. Friendswood High School has been rated as a Texas Education Association Exemplary School for 14 years.
