Pearland grad Bennett plays in San Diego loss
Pearland High School graduate Julia Bennett played for San Diego University in its 77-57 loss to Gonzaga Thursday, Jan. 3, at McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Wash., the team's website reported.
Bennett recorded two assists for the Toreros, who are 8-5 on the season.
San Diego's next game is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at Portland.
Bennett is a junior guard for the University of San Diego. She is a 2009 graduate of Pearland High School where she was named Defensive and Offensive Player of the year in 2008. She averaged 18 points as a senior to go along with 3.2 assists 4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. As a senior she was named to the All-Greater Houston team and was named to the academic all-state team. She carried a 3.7 GPA into USD. Bennett is from Pearland and is the daughter of Willie and Joyce Bennett.
