The musical skills of band students at Alvin Community College have been recognized by the Texas Community College Band Directors Association.

According to a press release, Bryan Rodriguez, of Pasedena, and Joshua DeLeon, of Marvel, were placed on the All-State Clinic or Concert by the association.

The pair was chosen for the band after the association listened to recordings by the music students.

They were selected from a group of 350 entrants among 28 community colleges in Texas community colleges, said David Griffith, ACC music instructor and band director.

Both students will perform during the Texas Music Educators Association convention in San Antonio on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013.

Rodriguez plays bassoon, while DeLeon is a precusionist.
