Plummer receives honor from Alvin Independent School District
Kristi Plummer, a math intervention specialist at Alvin Independent School District, has received the Milken National Educator Award.
According to a district release, "The Milken Family Foundations mission is to strengthen the teaching profession by recognizing and rewarding outstanding educators."
"I am completely in shock and truly appreciative for this award. I could not have accomplished this without the support from my colleagues and principal, Carol Nelson," Plummer said in a press release.
Plummer, a resident of Texas, is a graduate of Texas A&M University.
The honor was presented by Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Texas Commissioner of Education Michael L. Williams.
"None of our states academic successes would be possible without the teachers of Texas, who inspire our students as much as they educate them," Perry said in the release.
