McMullen receives honor from Mary Burks Marek Elementary School

Jessica McMullen, a principal at Mary Burks Marek Elementary School, has received the The Arc of the Gulf Coast Making a Difference Award.

According to a school release, "The Arc of the Gulf Coast supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their quest for self-determination, ensuring that they have meaningful lives in the community where they live, learn, work, play and worship."

"Receiving this award was a flattering and incredible compliment. It feels great to be recognized for simply doing what I love, and that's helping to ensure that every child receives the best possible education available to them," McMullen said in a press release.
