Pearland grad Bennett plays in San Diego loss

Pearland High School graduate Julia Bennett played for the University of San Diego in a 72-39 loss to Arizona State Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, according to the San Diego website.

The junior guard and the Toreros are 6-3 on the season.

Bennett is a junior guard for the University of San Diego. She is a 2009 graduate of Pearland High School where she was named Defensive and Offensive Player of the Year in 2008. She averaged 18 points as a senior to go along with 3.2 assists 4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. As a senior she was named to the All-Greater Houston team and was named to the academic all-state team. She carried a 3.7 GPA into USD. Bennett is from Pearland and is the daughter of Willie and Joyce Bennett.
