Man jumps from window to escape police

A man trying to get away from Friendswood police today jumped out of a second-story window in the Pearland apartment building they'd surrounded.
Joe Thornburg, 27, of Alvin was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston for treatment of a possible head injury and a fractured collar bone.
Police said he jumped just after 3 p.m. as they were trying to serve a probation violation warrant at The Regency Apartments, 2401 Old Alvin Road.
Friendswood police said they'd surrounded the apartment to avoid a repeat of a May 2007 encounter when he led them on a chase after a car crash on FM 528. He jumped into Clear Creek before he was apprehended in that incident.
This time Friendswood police wanted him because he was suspected of violating his probation in Friendswood in a case stemming from possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The warrant was issued out of Galveston County and had no bond.
Police said there was also a bond forfeiture warrant that was issued out of Brazoria County stemming from a resisting arrest case.
