Pearland grad Bennett helps in San Diego win
Pearland High School graduate Julia Bennett scored two points in the 91-52 win by her University of San Diego over conference opponent San Jose State Sunday, Nov. 25, at Jenny Craig Pavilion in San Diego, the school website reported.
Bennett also recorded an assist for the Toreros, who improved to 3-1 on the season.
San Diego's next game is 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 against Boise State.
Bennett is a junior guard for the University of San Diego. She is a 2009 graduate of Pearland High School where she was named Defensive and Offensive Player of the year in 2008. She averaged 18 points as a senior to go along with 3.2 assists 4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. As a senior she was named to the All-Greater Houston team and was named to the academic all-state team. She carried a 3.7 GPA into USD. Bennett is from Pearland and is the daughter of Willie and Joyce Bennett.
