Pearland grad contributes to University of San Diego victory
Pearland High School graduate Julia Bennett contributed in the University of San Diego's 78-44 home win against Northern Colorado on Nov. 23 in college basketball action.
According to the University of San Diego's website, Bennett, a junior guard for the University of San Diego, recorded 4 points and 1 rebound for the Toreros. The team improved to 1-1 on the season.
The game took place at Jenny Craig Pavilion in San Diego, Calif.
The University of San Diego's next game is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25 at home against San Jose State.
Bennett is a 2009 graduate of Pearland High School where she was named defensive and offensive player of the year in 2008. She averaged 18 points as a senior to go along with 3.2 assists, 4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. As a senior she was named to the All-Greater Houston team. Aside from her accomplishments on the court, Bennett carried a 3.7 grade point average into college. Bennett is from Pearland and is the daughter of Willie and Joyce Bennett.
