Young author has all the ‘write’ stuff

Second-grader Gracie McClendon is the youngest student to be published in the “I Write Short Stories by Kids for Kids Anthology” by Read3Zero. “I’ve always had a good imagination, and I even had a lot of imaginary friends when I was younger,” Gracie said. “I wrote a story this past summer titled ‘Surfin’ Serafina,’ and  I was very excited when I found out that I was the youngest student whose story was selected.”

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:  Superior Honor Roll; first-grade writing award; and “learning how to ice skate, knit and do gymnastics.”
FAVORITE SUBJECT: Art. “It’s fun. I get to be creative, and there’s no wrong way of doing it.”
FAVORITE AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITY: “Writing workshops, gymnastics, ice skating and Girl Scouts.”
FAVORITE BOOK: “ ‘Turtle Town - The Inner Puka’ is my favorite book because I like turtles and would like to learn how to surf.”
FAVORITE MUSICAL GROUP: Alvin and The Chipmunks
FAVORITE TV SHOW: “ ‘Scooby Doo’ is my favorite TV show because it’s funny and I like mystery movies.”
FAVORITE MOVIE: “My favorite movie is ‘McKenna’ because I enjoy doing gymnastics.”
AMBITION: “Continue to write stories and read books, stay on the All-A Honor Roll and to be a gymnast in the Olympics.”
