Several Friendswood High School students named to Freshman All-Region Band

Friendswood High School had 15 students selected for the Freshman All-Region Band during Region 17 auditions.

The following students, all freshmen, received the honor: Mia Purdom - Flute 5; Jenna Hetsko - Flute 9; Ashlyn Sauer - Bassoon 3; Fatima Ovais - Bassoon 4; Selina Vickery - Clarinet 1; Mitchell Hsu - Alto Sax 1; Daniel Isaac - Tenor Sax 1; Nate Johnson - Bari Sax 1; Tyler Bandini - Trumpet 2; Megan Wade - Trumpet 3; James Tomerlin-Trumpet 5; Victor Liaw - Horn 6; Kevin Lu - Euphonium 2; Philip Baldwin - Tuba 3; and Max Conrad - Percussion 5.Making the Freshman All-Region Band were Mia Purdom - Flute 5; Jenna Hetsko - Flute 9; Ashlyn Sauer - Bassoon 3; Fatima Ovais - Bassoon 4; Selina Vickery - Clarinet 1; Mitchell Hsu - Alto Sax 1; Daniel Isaac - Tenor Sax 1; Nate Johnson - Bari Sax 1; Tyler Bandini - Trumpet 2; Megan Wade - Trumpet 3; James Tomerlin-Trumpet 5; Victor Liaw - Horn 6; Kevin Lu - Euphonium 2; Philip Baldwin - Tuba 3; and Max Conrad - Percussion 5.

The auditions were held at Alvin High School. Eleven high schools in Region 17 had students selected. Friendswood finished second behind Dawson with the highest number of students. The FHS band is led by directors Greg Dick, Aaron Brown and Julio Sanchez.

More than 1,700 students attend Friendswood High School. It is the only high school in the Friendswood Independent School District. The school's principal is Mark Griffon and associate principal is Diane Myers. Friendswood High School has been rated as a Texas Education Association Exemplary School for 14 years.
