Friendswood High School student takes second in poster contest

Freshman Lauren Whalen of Friendswood High School recently won second place in the Texas Alliance for Geographic Education's Declare Your Interdependence poster contest.

According to a press release, Whalen, along with her family members, teacher and principal, will be honored during an awards ceremony from 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the State Capitol Building, 110 Congress Ave., Austin.

Certificates and prizes will be awarded to contest winners and their teachers by Jo Beth Oestreich, the co-coordinator of the Texas Alliance for Geographic Education.
