Friendswood High School choir members earn regional honors

Fifty-four choir students from Friendswood High School performed at the Texas Music Educators Association Region 17 choir auditions Saturday, Nov. 3.

From that group, 23 earned membership into the All-Region Mixed Choir; 20 students will advance to the next round of auditions for the Texas All-State Choir; an additional 27 students will perform with the All-Region Women's Choir; and four have earned membership with the All-Region Men's Choir.

Three students from FHS ranked first in their section and have moved to the Pre-Area audition. They are Samantha McHenry, Soprano 1; Vinnie Mahal, Tenor 1; and Bryan Markley, Bass 2.

The following students will also be in the Pre-Area audition: Haley Holtje, Nattie Wroblewski and Kayla Cox, Soprano 1; Shelby Allison, Marissa Froneberger, Ellie Herder, Emily Nagel, Heather Stevens and Elisa Rodriguez, Soprano 2; Ariana Randal, Noelle Kutz, Julia Conger and Mackenzie Henderson, Alto 2; Sean Lipscomb, Tenor 1; Jeffrey Stone, Tenor 2; Nathan Stevens, Bass 1; and David Snowden, Bass 2.

Members of the All-Region Mixed Choir and alternates to Pre-Area are Gina Baker, Alto 2 (first alternate); Kyle Beaman, Bass 2 (first alternate); and Troy Beckman, Bass 2 (second alternate).

Students in the All-Region Women's Choir are Jenny Plackemeier, JoJo Twyford, Lauren Peplinski, Julia Robinson, Skylar McHenry, Lauren Kutz, Carly Smith, Colleen Landis, Rachel Jensen, Leila Johnson, Catherine Harrison and Esther Segrera, Soprano 1; Cassie Nagle, Kirsten Hil, Regan Hughes, Nita Ortiz and Brie Sharp, Soprano 2; Hannah Tamplain and Alex Semple, Alto 1; and Jillian Strickland, Brittany Dolezal, Jana Landers, Kelly Pitman, Anne Balderrama, Annica Marcuccio, Kristen Foster and Michaela Stanch, Alto 2.

The students in the All-Region Men's Choir are Austin Melis and Conner Borne, Tenor 2; and Will Timme and Jordan Gates, Bass 1.
