Pearland ISD announces mascot, colors for new school, plans info nights

The Pearland Independent School District has announced the mascot and school colors for the new Turner College and Career High School, which is set to open in the fall of 2013.

In a community survey, Pearland residents chose a blue, black and white color scheme and a rail cat mascot for the school, according to a school district press release.

When operational, TCCHS will provide career certification programs and associate degree programs for students entering grades 9-12. Students will have an opportunity to earn up to 60 college credit hours during their high school career at TCCHS.

Pearland ISD will hold informational nights for parents and students led by TCCHS principal Jennifer Morrow on Monday, Dec. 3, Monday, Dec. 10, Monday, Jan. 14, Tuesday, Jan. 15, Monday, Feb. 4 and Tuesday, Feb. 5. The meetings will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the TCCHS campus, 4717 Bailey Road, Pearland. The last four sessions will be held in both Spanish and English.

TCCHS will offer certification programs in pre-med, veterinary technician, environmental studies, plants and design, metal technologies and welding, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, engineering and design, animation, game art and design, information technology, finance, office administration, audio and video production and hospital administration. TCCHS will also offer associate degrees with a concentration choice of general studies or math and science.
