He received his B.S. in chemistry from Texas Tech University and his M.A. in analytical chemistry from the University of Texas-Austin.

Bernard Obi has served as a research leader at The Dow Chemical Co., a multinational chemical corporation.

He has a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
