Baybrook Mall partners with donorschoose.org

A local mall partnered with donorschoose.org on Thursday, Sept. 4 in an effort to support area schools and teachers.

Baybrook Mall's partnership with donorschoose.org will help schools in the community receive supplies and funding.

Donorschoose.org, an online charity spearheaded by educator Charles Best in 2000, connects potential donors directly to classrooms that need anything from pencils to violins to microscopes, according to a Baybrook Mall press release.

"Being able to directly impact the quality of a child's education is something that is extremely important to Baybrook Mall," Mary Evans, marketing manager, said in the release, "After all, it starts in the classroom. DonorsChoose.org makes it so easy, and tangible, to give back to local-area schools and the projects you're passionate about."

During the Thursday, Sept. 4 kick-off, Baybrook Mall announced that its parent company will give one school in the United States $20,000. The school will be nominated by a club member.

Club member sign-up sheets will be scattered throughout Baybrook Mall until Sunday, Oct. 14. It is free to join and to nominate a local school. The drawing is scheduled to take place Thursday, Nov. 1.

Schools interested in participating should contact Evans by calling 281-488-4627 or emailing baybrookadmin@ggp.com.

Baybrook Mall is owned and managed by General Growth Properties Inc.
