Friendswood ISD honors former superintendent

Walter Wilson, a former Friendswood Independent School District superintendent and Friendswood resident, has been named the 2012 Honorary Alumnus.

Wilson graduated from Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M Kingsville) and earned a master's degree from Sam Houston State University, according to a district press release.

He was named assistant principal of Friendswood High School in 1970, and four years later took the reins as the school's principal. He was named assistant superintendent for administration in 1977 and served as superintendent from 1998 until he retired in 2002.

Friendswood Education Foundation and the FHS Alumni Association will present the award at an special event Thursday, Oct. 18.
