Nimitz to take on Chavez in high school football action
The Chavez High School football team has struggled offensively in its first two games, scoring just 21 points.
The Lobos (0-2) will try to get things on track this week when they play at Nimitz at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at Thorne Stadium.
Chavez is coming off a 66-7 loss to Fort Bend Marshall on Saturday, Sept. 8. The Lobos scored their lone touchdown in the fourth quarter when Corey Owens found the end zone on a 52-yard run. Chavez managed only 131 yards of offense and allowed 472. Owens was the leading rusher with 78 yards.
Nimitz is 1-1 after falling 17-13 to Humble Atascocita on Thursday, Sept. 6. Jonathan Banks scored on a 1-yard run and Dre'Vian Young rushed six yards for a touchdown.
The Cougars rolled up 282 yards and limited Atascocita to 177 yards. Young churned out 79 yards to lead the rushing attack for the Cougars.
Chavez will play Beaumont West Brook at home on Friday, Sept. 21 and will play Westside on Friday, Sept. 28. Both games will begin at 7 p.m. The Lobos will play at Houston Sam Houston on Saturday, Oct. 6 in a 7:30 p.m. game.
