Friendswood Teacher of the Year finalist honored

Pepper Smith, Friendswood teacher and regional finalist for Texas Teacher of the Year, along with the Friendswood High School student body will be treated to a sweet treat from Blue Bell Ice Cream in Smith's honor on Friday, Sept. 21.

"At Blue Bell, we believe there is no finer work you can do in this world than be a teacher," CEO Paul Kruse said in a press release. "The finalists for Texas Teacher of the Year are among the most outstanding members of their profession. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to honor Ms. Smith for her wonderful work."

Blue Bell staff will arrive with the ice cream at 11 a.m. and stay until 2 p.m. Smith will receive a cooler of chocolate ice cream, her favorite flavor, as a prize.

Friendswood High School is located at 702 Greenbriar in Friendswood.
