School supplies drives support academic success

Several local supplies drives have helped hundreds of local students prepare for success in school.

The eighth annual YMCA Operation Backpack collected 534 backpacks and more than 13,700 school supplies for area students; Project PASS (Pearlanders Assisting with School Supplies) raised hundreds of school supplies; and Share Hope Outreach Ministry provided 100 filled backpacks for students.

Many individuals and sponsors contributed to the success of these projects, including 89.3 FM KSBJ, ABC 13, ACU Credit Union, Fuddrucker's, God's Army Supply, H-E-B, Home Depot, Kidde, Luby's, New Hope Church, Shoe Carnival, Toyota, Women in Leadership, Claws and Paws, Pearland Animal Hospital, Pet Hub Animal Rescue, Walmart Foundation, Walgreens and Westside Veterinary Hospital.
