ACC helping former NASA workers find employment
U.S. Rep. Pete Olson speaks with Patricia Hertenberger, ACC Dean of Continuing Education during a visit to the Workforce Solutions Aerospace Transition Center Aug. 13.
The word is getting out about employment programs for former NASA workers.
In a visit to the Workforce Solutions Aerospace Transition Center in Houston Aug. 13, U.S. Representative Pete Olson of Texas's 23rd District addressed the role community colleges and local employers play in finding work for former NASA employees.
"You need to have a partner out there," Olson told Workforce Solution employees, according to a press release. "There's none better than the community colleges."
The Aerospace Transition Center works with post-NASA workers to find new employment opportunities, and many are directed to area community colleges to find new roles for employment. Patricia Hertenberger, Alvin Community College Dean of Continuing Education, says ACC has been one of the many facilities to take on the challenge of preparing these individuals for new career goals.
"Some of the former NASA workers have turned to ACC for training and have gone on to different careers, including one employee who received a broadcasting degree," HertenbergerĀ said in the release. "It helps when we can all work together."
