Westwood Bales students attend Space Center for rover landing
Westwood Bales SEARCH students recently attended the "Seven Minutes of Terror" Curiosity landing event on Aug. 5 at the Space Center, located at 1601 NASA Parkway in Houston. The students arrived at 10 p.m. and stayed at the center until after the Mars rover landed at 12:31 a.m. They were able to watch the crew at the jet propulsion laboratory and eat pancakes. Included among the students were fifth graders who will be studying the Mars rovers and participating in the University of Houston's Mars Rover Competition in January. There was also a group of three third graders, led by teacher Stacy Mueller.
