United Negro College Fund event to be held at Tom Bass Park
The 27th annual United Negro College Fund Run/Walk for Education will be held Saturday, Sept. 8 at Tom Bass Park.
The event raises funds for financial assistance and student scholarships to the 39 historical black colleges and universities designated by the United Negro College Fund. The UNCF was established in 1944.
Registration for the event is free, but a $40 donation or fundraising effort qualifies for a 2012 Walk T-shirt. Online and printable registration forms are available at give.uncf.org/HoustonWalk.
The 3.1 mile event will be held at Tom Bass Park, Section 1, located at 3452 Fellows Road, in Houston. Registration starts at 7 a.m. followed by the 5K start at 8 a.m.
