Third annual Big Dipper Dash set for Sept. 8
The third annual Big Dipper Dash 5K Awareness Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 during Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
According to the press release, proceeds from the event go to the Houston Rescue and Restore Coalition and its efforts to eradicate modern-day slavery through educational programs and community empowerment.
Regular registration will be available until Friday, Aug. 31 at a cost of $25. Registrations received after this date will be an additional $5.
The Big Dipper Dash will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, beginning and ending near Pavilion 4 at Tom Bass Park, Section III, 15108 Cullen Road. Parking is available throughout the park.
Packet pickup and registration will start a 5 p.m. on the day of the race, but can also be done from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Fleet Feet, 2408 Rive Blvd., or from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 at the California Pizza Kitchen inside Memorial City Mall.
All event participants will receive T-shirts and sponsored race packets, and race winners will receive special prizes. Door prizes will be open to all racers. Volleyball and refreshments will be available after the race.
