Global Organization of Divinity holds youth summer camp
The six-week Gopa Kuteeram Youth Summer Camp hosted by the Global Organization of Divinity concluded July 25 with a cultural event and awards.
The camp was held at Houston Namawaar starting June 13 and held every Wednesday. The purpose of the camp is to teach Indian culture and spirituality with activities and workshops. These activities included Indian folk puppetry, art, street games, Ayurvedic cooking, yoga and a field trip to the Asia Society Texas Center Museum and Rothko Chapel.
On the final day, children that attended the camp presented a puppet theater show they produced titled "Why Incarnation?" The evening also including a singing of the devotional songs learned at the camp and awards. Named best overall performer was Sruthi Srivathson and the Gopa Kuteeram Spirit Award went to Shroothi Ramesh. Other award winners were Raghav Baskar, Tejna Dasari, Kishore Iyer, Muktha Nair, Mukund Nair, Shilpa Sadagopan and Karun Salvady.
