Pearland Archery Club offers JOAD Program
Registration starts for the Pearland Archery Club’s Junior Olympic Archery Development Program, which is designed for young archers who want to compete in the sport.
Registration begins Monday, Aug. 6 for members with open registration starting Aug. 12 for the beginners class from 8-years-old to 18-years-old who want to compete in local and regional tournaments. These young archers can also try to compete in international competitions for USA Archery.
The last day to register is Sept. 20.
Not all students in the JOAD Program will go on to competitions. They can also use the skills learned during the program in other aspects of archery, such as hunting, 3D, target and field.
The club provides all necessary equipment, including the Mathews Genesis bows, but students are encouraged to bring their own compound bows that have sights and releases aids, or recurve bows. All equipment will be inspected before being used on the archery ranges.
The club meets Thursdays in the main hall of the Community Center, 3523 Liberty Dr. Cost is $35 for residents and $55 for nonresidents.
