Friendswood police remind residents to lock vehicles

Police reported the following vehicle burglaries:

Forest of Friendswood
Three cars were hit in the 600 block of
Timber View. The cars were parked in the driveway overnight and left unlocked. One of the residents walked outside and noticed that items were scattered throughout the interior of one of the vehicles and that the GPS was gone. A neighbor walking in the subdivision found a prescription bottle and broken eyeglasses in the roadway.

Two vehicles were rummaged through but nothing is reported stolen.

Between 9 p.m. July 15 and 5 p.m. July 16, someone burglarized a vehicle in the 600 block of Timber View and took a GPS, a pair of sunglasses and set of headphones. There were no signs of forced entry.

On July 16, a wallet was taken from a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Thornwood Drive. The person who had the wallet stolen didn’t have time to file a report, so officials are awaiting the details of the burglary.

Wedgewood Village
Between 2:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. on July 16, someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 15800 block of Bougainvilla Lane and took two flashlights. The victim thinks the incident may have happened around 2:30 a.m. because he remembered his dog barking as if someone or something was outside. The man did not investigate or call police to investigate.

Someone burglarized a vehicle parked in the 15800 block of Bougainvilla on July 16 and took a small amount of cash and some miscellaneous papers after rummaging through the glove compartment and center console.

Field Creek
Someone burglarized a vehicle parked in the 1800 block of Talon Drive sometime overnight on July 16 and took a laptop, golf clubs and a class ring. The vehicle was probably left unlocked because there were no signs of forced entry.

Dunbar Estates
Sometime overnight on July 17, someone burglarized a vehicle at 110 Dunbar Estates and took a GPS, radar detector and sunglasses. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

Over the past month or so, two vehicles have been stolen from the parking lot of the Baywood Apartments at 5025 FM 2351.

A black 1999 Honda Civic, Texas license plate NCR174, was taken sometime between 9 p.m. June 19 and 3 p.m. June 20.

A green 2000 Honda Civic, Texas license place BTFP306, was taken sometime between 4 p.m. July 16 and 9:30 a.m. July 17.

Police have no suspects at this time. Anyone with information about the break-ins should call the Friendswood Police Department at 281-996-3300.

To prevent the theft of valuables from your car, remove items from your vehicle and lock it, even if you think you live in a crime-free neighborhood. Also don't hesitate to call police to report anything suspicious, especially at night.
