Registration for Citizen's Police Academy is open to Pearland residents
The Pearland Police Department will hold a Citizen’s Police Academy from 7-9:30 p.m. starting Thursday, Aug. 2 at police headquarters, 2555 Cullen Parkway.
Offered twice a year, the CPA class gives interested residents an opportunity to learn different aspects of policing. The academy meets weekly on Thursday evenings.
Course topics include the police hiring process, penal and transportation codes, arrest procedures and crash investigation.
Graduates will have the option of joining the Pearland Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, dedicated to supporting the mission of the department. The academy does not certify attendees as law enforcement officers.
There is no cost to attend. Participants must be 18 years old, with the exception of 17 year olds who attend with an immediate family member.
The program is open to all residents who live or work in the Pearland area. To ensure the program’s integrity, applicants are subject to a basic background check.
