Commissioners Court names July as Adopt a Shelter Animal Month
The Brazoria County Commissioners Court has named the month of July 2012 as Adopt a Shelter Animal Month in Brazoria County.
Citizens of the county are asked to observe the event and consider adopting an animal from one of Brazoria County's shelters.
Tens of millions of animals are kept in shelters across the country every year, and local governments spend approximately $2 billion of tax dollars to care for them. The Brazoria County Commissioners Court is asking citizens to reach out to an animal and help to alleviate the national problem.
The number of euthanized animals in Brazoria County could be dramatically reduced if more people adopted from the shelters.
