Alvin ISD approves new administrative positions

Lisa Burns was approved as the new principal of Harby Junior High School.

The Alvin ISD board of trustees named several individuals to district positions at a June 12 meeting.

"Every individual selected brings extensive knowledge, experience and skills to their new position and we are proud to have them as a part of the Alvin ISD team," said Fred Brent, schools superintendent, in a news release.

William McDaniel is the new associate principal at Alvin High School. He has served as the high school's assistant principal since 2010. His assistant principal replacement has not yet been determined.

The new principal at Harby Junior High School is Lisa Burns. She has been an assistant principal at Harby since 2007. Burns replaces Johnny BriseƱo, who was promoted to principal at Alvin High School.

Monique Gadson, the new assistant principal at Hood-Case Elementary, has worked as a district counselor for Hood-Case since 2005.

Syreeta Presley steps into the role of assistant principal at Savannah Lakes Elementary. Presley has been an instructional technology specialist in the district for the past five years.

The new coordinator of fine arts is Lakeisha McGowen, who comes from Katy ISD, where she served as the assistant principal at Seven Lakes High School.

"We look forward to witnessing the success of each of the chosen individuals in their new positions," said Brent. "I am confident that they will all do their part in helping to take Alvin ISD to the next level."
