Friendswood ISD names new assistant superintendent

Westwood-Bales Principal Lynn Hobratschk named new Assistant Superintendent.

Westwood-Bales Principal Lynn Hobratschk named new Assistant Superintendent.

Lynn Hobratschk, principal from Westwood–Bales, was recently named the new assistant superintendent of curriculum and learning in the Friendswood Independent School District.

She will be replacing Sherry Green, who retires in July.

Hobratschk has served as principal of Westwood–Bales for eight years. Before that she taught second grade at Cline Elementary and sixth grade Language Arts at Bales and Windsong intermediate schools, totaling 24 years of service within Friendswood ISD.

A year ago, she was asked to take on double the responsibility by serving as principal for both Westwood Elementary and Bales Intermediate.

In 2002, Hobratschk joined JoBeth Brizendine in the curriculum sabbatical program, focusing on language arts and social studies curriculum and staff development. Teachers in the program attended more than 28 trainings and returned to provide staff development opportunities to the district, including training new and existing teachers.

As assistant superintendent of curriculum and learning, Hobratschk plans to work on the total curriculum piece of the district.

“I have enjoyed being a part of FISD for the past 24 years and look forward to serving our children, parents and community in this new capacity,” Hobratschk said in the press release.

Hobratschk received a bachelor's degree from Concordia University and a master's degree, reading specialist certification and mid-management certification from University of Houston–Clear Lake.
