Alvin Community College music students get lesson in songwriting
Country music singer/songwriter Bill Nash, left, performs with ACC music instructor James Harvey on April 4 at the ACC Band Hall.
Students at Alvin Community College recently learned songwriting techniques from singer/songwriter Bill Nash.
Nash, a successful songwriter and musician, performed for students enrolled in instructor James Harvey's Country Music class earlier this month.
Harvey said in a press release that he has offered the live concerts each semester for the past four years because he thinks that live music is more emotional and powerful than a recording.
During the visit, Nash presented Harvey with a video he created to help aspiring songwriters, the press release stated.
In addition to the concert, Nash spoke about his local charity, Champion Kids Camp, which is for children who have experienced a personal tragedy or trauma, according to the press release.
