Wilder Elementary launches Watch D.O.G.S. program
Wilder Elementary, 2225 Kingsley Blvd., Pearland, launched its Watch D.O.G.S. program last November.
D.O.G.S., which stands for Dads of Great Students, is a father involvement initiative that organizes fathers and father figures to offer positive male role models to students and enhance school security.
Since the program began, an average of three to five fathers can be seen helping around the campus each week. Most of the fathers commit to more than one day. There are currently 63 Watch D.O.G.S. signed up.
Terri Bruce, Wilder Elementary principal; Stephanie Hopkins, assistant principal; Crystal Kirkpatrick, PTO president; Melissa Duncan, PTO vice president; and the entire Wilder PTO have been instrumental in developing the program and ensuring its successful implementation.
