Pearland Community Center to host water conservation conference
The Brazoria County Water Conservation Conference will be held March 10 at the Pearland Community Center.
Speakers at the event include Dr. John Nielsen-Gammon, a state climatologist, who will provide the keynote speech during lunch; John Smith, an extension specialist, who will discuss "Well Water Analysis and Rainwater Harvesting"; and Dr. Diane Beollstorff, an extension water resource specialist, who will discuss "Xeriscaping: Landscaping and Gardening in Ways That Reduce or Eliminate the Need For Supplemental Water From Irrigation."
Those who are interested in dropping off water samples for analysis can do so from March 5 through March 8 for a $10 fee. Results will be available at the conference. Samples can be dropped off at the Brazoria County AgriLife Extension Office, located at 21017 county Road 171, in Angleton.
The registration fee is $15 before Thursday, March 1, and $25 after.
The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with registration and the Vendor Expo beginning at 8 a.m. The Pearland Community Center is located at 3519 Liberty Drive.
