Texas resident first in state to use new technology system
Sgt. Javier Negrete is the first Texas resident to use ADT Pulse, a technology that allows the user to control much of his or her house from a small electronic device.
Negrete was a cavalry scout with the U.S. Army. In March 2005, he was involved in a vehicle accident that left him in a wheel chair. The new technology allows him to continue to live independently by being able to use appliances and turn lights on and off more easily.
The system was intended to be used as a home management system, but has been adapted to benefit disabled veterans.
