Pearland physician named in wrongful death suit
Family members are suing a physician who lives in Pearland after a family member died following a visit to Bayshore Medical Hospital.
Marie Madden and others, on behalf of the deceased John Stiles, Jr., filed a wrongful death suit on Nov. 11 against Pearland resident Felicia L. King, M.D.
Madden says on Sept. 12, 2009, Stiles died after receiving improper care at Bayshore Medical Center for his broken leg. King, the physician on duty, X-rayed Stiles’s left leg and then sent him home with instructions to meet with an orthopedic doctor in five days, according to the press release.
The suit alleges Stiles’s X-rays were not assessed by a radiologist until after his discharge and that the autopsy listed his cause of death as embolism due to left leg fracture.
The plaintiffs are seeking actual and exemplary damages, as well as court costs. They are being represented in the case by Houston attorney Joseph Gourrier.
