Pearland residents accused of traumatizing youth
A Houston mother is suing after, she says, a store clerk traumatized her son by pulling a gun on him.
Jontina Jones, on behalf of her son, filed a lawsuit on Oct. 18 in Harris County District Court against Newland Food Store, Thom Vu and Pearland residents Hoc Nguyen and Kimberly Nguyen, citing intentional infliction of emotional distress, assault, negligence and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
Jones says her son suffered mental and emotional distress after shopping at Newland Food Store on Oct. 24, 2009, when store clerk Vu, without provocation, pointed a gun at him and then screamed, according to the brief.
Jones is seeking actual and punitive damages, as well as attorney’s fees and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Taft Foley, II.
