Pearland resident sued over Jaguar, TV

A Houston woman is suing the family of a deceased man over claims they refuse to return the items she lent their father to help him through his sickness.

Alice Pradia filed a lawsuit on Sept. 27 in the Harris County District Court against Fresno resident Cynthia Young, Clear Lake resident Reginald Butler, Pearland resident John Butler, Florence Butler, Memorial resident Darrell Butler, Fort Bend resident Rodney Butler, Michael Butler and Katy resident Cheryl Ware, citing conversion, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The suit alleges that Pradia lent the defendants’ father, Acie Butler, various items, including a 2001 Jaguar automobile, dishwasher, a 52-inch television and more to help him during his sickness, but the defendants refused to return the items to her after he died on April 21.

Pradia says Acie Butler promised her Cynthia Young would return the items to her when he died.

Pradia is seeking $300,000 in actual damages and $250,000 in punitive damages, as well as attorney’s fees and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Mark McDonald.
