Pearland HS grad Drew DeKerlegand leads The Citadel attack
Pearland High School graduate Drew DeKerlegand continued his solid year, but The Citadel fell to UNC-Greensboro, 5-1, in college baseball action on Friday.
DeKerlegand went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a walk in the defeat.
Drew is first for the Bulldogs in batting at .319 and second in hits with 60 on the season.
DeKerlegand is a 2010 graduate of Pearland High School where he played baseball and football. He earned three letters on the Pearland baseball team and was named to the Texas all-state team in addition to being selected to the all-greater Houston preseason team prior to his senior campaign in 2009-2010. As a junior, DeKerlegand was a member of Pearland's 5A regional championship team. He batted .431 to earn all-greater Houston and all-district honors. He was also named to the Houston 5A junior all-star team and earned the team's gold glove award. DeKerlegand played football for two seasons at Pearland.
A business administration major at The Citadel, Drew is the son of Dean and Diane DeKerlegand.
