A Target grant will allow Jamison Middle School students to take reading outside the classroom and library and into the great outdoors.
Target volunteers recently turned Jamison's backyard into a reading garden where students can dig into books.
On Sept. 18, volunteers from Silverlake and Pearland Parkway Target stores spruced up the garden behind the campus, replacing wood on picnic tables and building a concrete base around benches.
Volunteers also led students in an art project to paint rocks and stepping stones with book-themed images.
The project was made possible through Target's Making Noise in the Library" program.
