Campus selects student work for founding art collection

The University of Houston-Clear Lake Pearland Campus recently selected artworks from area students and rsidents to include in its Founding Collection of Art.
The University of Houston-Clear Lake Pearland Campus held a juried competition to select 27 pieces submitted by 33 artists for its founding art collection.
"The Founding Collection of Art is the result of a community collaboration that reflects the partnership-orientation of the UH-Clear Lake Pearland Campus," said UH-Clear Lake President William A. Staples in the press release.
The judges of this competition included Carlos Alexis Ordonez, Alvin Community College Art faculty member; Pearland artist Margo Green; Clear Lake Arts Alliance Curator Debra Kendrick; Jason Makepeace, lecturer; and Fine Arts professor Sandria Hu.

UH-Clear Lake, UH-Clear Lake Pearland Campus, Alvin Community College, San Jacinto College-South and public and private high schools in Pearland were encouraged to participate. They included the following:

The artists were celebrated on May 27 at a private reception. Their work will be displayed on campus, 1200 Pearland Parkway.
