    Alvin man `sick' after lawsuit against Friendswood dismissed

    A Galveston County district judge has dismissed a $1.2 million lawsuit filed against Friendswood for backing out of a deal to buy land in Alvin for a park. "I am sick," said landowner David Wight, who made improvements to his property and bought additional land so the city would have a parcel suitable for a park.

    Police: SUV sought in theft of pet pit bull

    Police are investigating the theft of a white American pit bull with black spots Wednesday from the yard of an Alvin house. Coockie, a 2 1/2-year-old female, was taken away in a Chevrolet Tahoe that had a license plate registered to a Pearland address, police said.
