Nine candidates, including three incumbents, have filed for three at-large positions on the Pearland Independent School board. The deadline for filing was 5 p.m. Monday.
In the Position 5 race, incumbent Lillian Smith, 57, a housewife, has two opponents that include trustee Suzy Roberts, 55, a retired nurse who is not seeking re-election to her Position 6 seat. Also vying for the Position 5 seat is Rebecca Decker, 37, an adjunct professor.
The Position 6 race has four candidates: Rusty DeBorde, 40, a custom home builder; Steve Dollinger, 41, an attorney; Rosmarie Furnari, 65, a retired teacher; and Sam Gray, 53, vice president of Metallic Products.
In the Position 7 race, incumbent Adele Brennan, 47, an accountant, has one challenger, Pam Boegler, 41, an office manager.
The trustee election will take place on May 8.

I was going to run, but ...
I figured that my first motion would be to pay off Dr. Cain's contract and begin the search for a new superintendent that might actually have some vision. If I wasn't successful, I figured that might set-up some bad battles with those happy with Dr. "C" - and you know politics in Pearland!
I hope the new board memebers will help these principals wake up
I hope the new board memebers will help these principals wake up and see that TAKS is not the most important thing in school and that having the highest TAKS scores is not what it's all about. You would be amazed what principals will do.

I was going to thank Ms. Roberts for not running again for position 6, until I saw she was running for position 5.
