Friendswood’s Melissa Watson just missed the UIL State Meet medal stand with a fourth place in the Class 4A girls 100-yard breaststroke last week in Austin.
Watson, a senior, was also 10th in the 200 freestyle, and on the sixth-place 200 medley relay with senior Lauren Lundquist, junior Kelsey Castro and sophomore Rachel Cragin.
The 400 free relay of seniors Reagan Law and Kara Griffith, sophomore Hailey Lutz, and freshman Meagan Attaway was seventh, and the 200 free relay senior McKenna Harclerode, and Lutz, Lundquist and Cragin came in ninth for Friendswood, which also had Cragin eighth in the 100 butterfly, junior Alexandria Taylor 13th in girls 500 free, and freshman Philip Stevens 16th in boys 100 backstroke.
More state swimming
Manvel senior Lauren Spano finished seventh in the 4A 100 breaststroke and 11th in the 200 individual medley, and her sophomore brother Geoffrey Spano was 10th in the 500 free, at state.
Dawson freshman Bofeng Chen came in 13th in the 4A boys 200 individual medley in his first of what many feel will be multiple trips to the UIL championships.
