With filing to run for a regent position on the Alvin Community College Board ending on March 8, five candidates entered their names onto the ballot for three open seats.

Incumbent Mac Barrow, Michael "Drab" Green and Jim Sudela will be running for Position 8 and incumbents L. H. "Pete" Nash and Karlis Ercums, III, will be running unopposed for Positions 7 and 9, respectively. The terms for these positions expire 2016.

The ACC Board of Regents General Election will be held May 8 with early voting taking place April 26-30, May 1, and May 3-4. Polling locations on Election Day, May 8, include: Alvin Fire Station (Precincts 3, 35 and 41), 302 W. House; Harby Junior High School (Precincts 16, 34, 39, 47, 71 and 72), 1500 Heights Road in Alvin; Hillcrest Village Municipal Building (Precincts 25 and 52), 200 W. Timberlane in Alvin; Brazoria County Courthouse (Precinct 40), North Annex, 7313 Corporate Drive in Manvel; Southern Ford Middle Building (Precincts 58 and 75), 17717 Highway 288 South in Manvel; Liverpool City Hall (Precincts 6 and 57), 8901 Calhoun; Iowa Colony Community Center (Precinct 11), 12003 County Road 65; Nolan Ryan Junior High School (Precincts 50 and 59), 11500 Shadow Creek Parkway in Pearland; Bailey Road Facility (Precincts 36 and 77), 4717 Bailey Road in Pearland; Fellowship Bible Church (Precinct 61), 1720 E. Broadway in Pearland; Westside Event Center (Precinct 29), 2150 Country Place Parkway in Pearland; First Baptist Church of Rosharon (Precinct 21), 16211 FM 1462; Danbury Community Center (Precinct 15), 6115 5th Street; and Surfside Beach City Hall (Precinct 38), 1304 Monument Drive. Polling locations on Election Day will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Early voting locations include: Brazoria County Courthouse, East Annex (Old Wal-mart Building), 1524 E. Mulberry, Room 144, in Angleton; Alvin Library, 105 S. Gordon Street; Precinct 4 County Barn, 1001 Market Street in Brazoria; Brazosport College, 500 College Drive in Lake Jackson; Freeport Library, 410 Brazosport Boulevard; Brazoria County Courthouse, North Annex, 7313 Corporate Drive in Manvel; Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3/2 Courtroom, 2436 S. Grand Boulevard in Pearland; Westside Event Center, 2150 Country Place Parkway in Pearland; Sweeny Community Center, 205 W. Ashley Wilson Road; and West Columbia City Hall, 512 E. Brazos. Polling locations for early voting will be open April 26-30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 1 and May 3-4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Registered voters can vote by mail if they meet one of the following qualifications: 65 years of age or older, confinement in jail, disabled or will be absent from the county on Election Day or during the early voting period. Applications for ballots by mail must be received by Joyce Hudman, County Clerk, 111 E. Locust, Angleton, TX 77515-4654 before the close of business on April 30.
